How to use

Please see for details how to get started and configure this photomode mod, General features and configuration. This guide will provide additional information for the controls / features specific for this photomode mod.

Info

If you don't see the acblackflag.exe process or the acblackflag_plus.exe in the Process to inject to textbox, please click the Select button to select it manually. This might be the case if you're running the game as Administrator, and the IGCSClient.exe does not, it can't see the acblackflag.exe process. In that case, restart the IGCSClient.exe as Administrator.

It's not needed to run the game as administrator.

Environment Adjustments

The Environment Adjustments tab is the tab where you can adjust some aspects that might influence the image.

Important!

Most settings are in the in-game overlay. They're not implemented in the client as tweaking them in an off-screen client might be cumbersome and the controls in the overlay are easier to use and offer more precision.

To open the overlay, please press Ctrl-Insert, or the key combination you bound in the keybindings to open the overlay.

Miscellaneous options

Time of Day
Time of day controls the current world time in a 24 hour clock. When the game is paused and you move the time of day, you will see the sun move and the light change, but it won't take effect for 100% until you unpause the game. This is an aspect of the game engine. You can also change the time of day with the keyboard (see Keybindings) which might be easier than flipping back/forth to the client to get the right sun position.
Game speed
This controls how fast the engine runs internally; a value of 1.0 is 'normal game speed' and a value of 0.0 is total pause. Use this to create slow-motion effects which help you pause the game at the right moment.
Higher details (LODs)
This is an important setting to get higher details in the game world. It affects foliage, mountains, shadows, rocks and models like NPCs in the game world. It does have an affect on performance as well but not that much. The higher you slide the slider, the more details will be introduced. It could glitch if you push it too high, so keep it right below that point.
Wetness
This controls the amount how wet the environment is, e.g. you can use this to mimic a situation right after period of rain
Puddle strength
This controls how much puddles with water there are in the environment, you can use this to remove the ones in the environment for instance, or add some for more dramatic effect.
Disable Depth of Field
This setting disables the in-game Depth of Field, both in cutscenes, as well as elsewhere
Disable Vignette
This disables the vignette that's still visible in the game.

Most features are only available in the in-game overlay because there were simply too many sliders/settings to control and the GUI of the client became pretty cluttered. To open the in-game overlay, in the game press Ctrl-Insert (if you bound another key for the in-game overlay, press that combination. See the keybindings in the IGCSClient). The in-game overlay consists of the Camera tab, Atmospherics tab and Time of Day tab.

Info

As with all ImGui based user interfaces, holding Shift while dragging a value will make the value change with bigger steps, holding Alt will make the value change with smaller steps and double clicking or ctrl-click will allow you to type in a value yourself.

Camera tab

Enable camera
The camera tab allows you to enable/disable the camera if you prefer clicking things instead of pressing a key on the keyboard
Field of View
Changes the field of view (FoV) which means zooming in (narrowed FoV) and zooming out (wider FoV)
Roll / Tilt
Controls the roll / tilt of the camera. It also offers buttons to quickly roll / tilt 90 degrees.
Save / restore camera state
Allows you to save and restore the state of the camera (location, orientation and FoV). This is also doable by using the keyboard (Ctrl-F1-F2)
Make character look at the camera
This will make the character look at the camera (if enabled), if the game isn't paused. Moving the camera around will make the character keep following it.

Environment tab

The Environment tab contains the options to override any aspect of post processing (Lighting, Color and AO/Shadows) and Atmospherics (Volumetric fog and Depth fog) as well as settings for LOD factor, Far Shadow LOD factor, Indirect lighting strength, wetness and puddle strength.

Post Process Settings

Each setting has a checkbox and a slider. The slider is disabled till you check the checkbox on the left of the slider. By default the slider is set at 0.0, and can go to -1 (for the minimum value for that setting) to 1 (for the maximum value for that setting). This way you can tweak in-game settings even if they change, e.g. based on the time of day. The Lighting section contains the settings related to exposure, contrast etc., the Color section contains settings for adjusting the nature of the colors in the game, and the AO / Shadows section contains settings for adjusting the aspect of AO and shadows. This section can really change the look of the image, so try them out, as they've been very conservative wrt shadows.

Atmospherics

To adjust the Atmospherics, you have to check the Override atmospherics checkbox. After checking that checkbox, you can adjust any of the values, they're pre-filled with the existing values currently in the game. You'll notice that the depth fog has a black color, if you adjust the Depth fog, you'll increase the black fog in the scene, so make sure you set that fog color to something bright first.

Miscellaneous
LOD Factor
This is an important setting to get higher details in the game world. It affects foliage, mountains, shadows, rocks and models like NPCs in the game world. It does have an affect on performance as well but not that much. The higher you slide the slider, the more details will be introduced. It could glitch if you push it too high, so keep it right below that point.
Far Shadow LOD Factor
The AnvilNEXT engine has a quirk where if you zoom out the shadows further away are actually more prominent. I've turned this around in such a way that you can use this slider to adjust the range of shadows further away at the expense of less detailed shadows close by, so use the slider to find the right spot where the shadows close by are still detailed and the shadows further away are more prominent and visible.
Indirect Lighting Strength
Light that bounces off surfaces is still visible on other surfaces. The higher this value, the more surfaces are lit indirectly by light bounced off other surfaces. Use this to brighten up a dark area.
Wetness
This controls the amount how wet the environment is, e.g. you can use this to mimic a situation right after period of rain
Puddle strength
This controls how much puddles with water there are in the environment, you can use this to remove the ones in the environment for instance, or add some for more dramatic effect.

Time of Day tab

The time of day tab allows you to control the position of the sun and moon using various controls.

Time of Day
Time of day controls the current world time in a 24 hour clock. When the game is paused and you move the time of day, you will see the sun move and the light change, but it won't take effect for 100% until you unpause the game. This is an aspect of the game engine. You can also change the time of day with the keyboard (see Keybindings)

Information recorded with camera path nodes

When you create a Camera path, each node records the camera location, orientation and field of view. Additionally to that for this game the camera node will also contain the current fog values, time of day, and when enabled the season factor. So if you want to have different time of day values per node, you can, just set the value you want in the client on the Environment Adjustments tab and create a camera path node.

Saving/restoring camera state

After you've enabled the camera (default with Insert), you can store the current camera state in three slots. The camera state is the current location, the orientation/rotation of the camera and the FoV, as well as other information recorded in camera path nodes, as the system uses camera path nodes under the hood.

By default you save the camera state by using Ctrl + F6 for saving the current camera state in slot 1, Ctrl + F7 for saving the current camera state in slot 2 and Ctrl + F8 for saving the current camera state in slot 3. To restore the camera state to a saved state, press F6 to restore the camera to the state saved in slot 1, press F7 to restore the camera to the state saved in slot 2 and, press F8 to restore the camera to the state saved in slot 3. These keys are configurable in the keybindings tab.

When you disable the camera again, the saved states are lost. If you want to preserve game states after you disabled the camera (e.g. you want to move the character a bit, and then enable the camera again), use a camera path and add the camera states you want to save as nodes. Camera paths are preserved after you disable the camera.
